The Right 2 Know campaign lambasted the African National Congress (ANC) on Friday and suggested the ruling party is refusing to budge on what it calls the secrecy bill’s most draconian provisions.
The campaign has also criticised the ANC for proposing to further broaden the definition of national security.
The group said despite promising concessions that were recently proposed, the spirit of paranoia in which the bill was drafted is still alive and well.
Right 2 Know’s Dale McKinley said, “The main thing the ANC is refusing to budge on is the public interest defence clause in the bill… The second thing they’re clearly refusing to budge on is the issue of the definition of national security.”
