R2K Whistleblowers 2014: Clinton Redman
Clinton Redman, a former licensing official at the Eastern Cape gambling board was forced to quit his job after revealing irregularities in the appointment of the current CEO. In 2013, an investigation by the Public Protector vindicated his claims, but the CEO remains in office.
Redman battled authorities for more than five years over the appointment of the board’s CEO, which he believed was invalid. He was threatened with a disciplinary hearing in 2010, accused of leaking information to the Daily Dispatch, and forced to resign.
