Presenting R2K’s 2015 Whistleblower Calendar
The Right2Know Campaign presents the 2015 Whistleblower Calendar! The calendar highlights stories of ordinary people who have blown the whistle on corruption, injustice and abuse of power across South Africa, it aims to celebrate these brave individuals, and honour the sacrifices they have made to speak out. Two of the featured whistleblowers were killed for speaking out.
We call on all South Africans to bring an end to the persecution of whistleblowers, and defend their right to speak truth to power!

Buyisile Mkavu
Nelson Mandela Bay Councillor, shot and killed in August 2014. His family believes his murder was linked to his stance against corruption. Read more.
Takalani Murathi
Exposed tender irregularities in a SETA in Limpopo. He was suspended and charged with misconduct. Read more.
“SAVE OUR SAMWU” workers
Ten officials expelled from Samwu after exposing alleged mismanagement and misuse of funds in the union. Read more.
Sello Mokhalipi
Free State chair of the Treatment Action Campaign. After TAC exposed serious problems with the provincial health system, his office was raided by the Health MEC’s bodyguards, and he got anonymous death threats. He had to go into hiding. Read more.
Xola Banisi
Civil servant and Samwu worker, shot and killed after reporting corruption concerns about Bloem Water to the Hawks and Public Protector. Read more.
Andrew Feinstein, Paul Holden & Hennie van Vuuren
Submitted evidence of corruption & bribery to the Arms Deal Commission, but later exposed serious problems with the Commission itself, for which they faced legal threats. Read more.
