The Right 2 Know campaign has said that it has not ruled out legal action to try and prevent the protection of information bill from being passed into law. The contentious bill is being voted on by an ad hoc committee set up to deal with the matter. However, the African National Congress (ANC) has been accused of using its majority in the committee to steam-roll the bill into law. Right 2 Know’s Dale McKinley said efforts to challenge the bill will be intensified. “We are going to have both at the local and international level, we are going to start petitions and letters to our politicians, including the president. If that doesn’t work then we’ll possibly go to the next step which is public mobilisations,” he said.
